Social media MCP server for Claude Code and Cursor

PostVIA’s social media MCP server lets Claude Code and Cursor draft, check and schedule posts through your account. You choose the API key permissions; publishing actions need explicit confirmation. MCP access is available on paid plans.

Starter, Growth or Agency. Not included in the free trial.

How can an AI assistant schedule social media posts? Connect the assistant to PostVIA tools with a scoped API key. It works on your posts and connected accounts, while the app’s publication allowance, validation and reservations still apply.

How do I schedule posts from Claude Code or Cursor?

  1. Create a key in Settings → API keys. Choose read, draft or publish access and an expiry; copy the key when it is shown.

  2. Connect https://postvia.online/api/mcp with an Authorization: Bearer header. Follow the PostVIA guide for Claude Code or Cursor.

  3. Ask the assistant to draft and check a post. For scheduling or publishing, review the details and confirm the action explicitly.

How do API key permissions work?

  • Read access

Inspect accounts, posts, approval status and usage, or check readiness. A read key cannot create or publish a post.

  • Draft access

Includes read access, plus creating and editing Drafts and requesting client approval. It cannot schedule or publish.

  • Publish access

Includes draft access, plus schedule, publish and unschedule. Each of those actions requires confirm: true; the assistant is instructed to ask for your agreement first.

What are the limits?

  • Starter, Growth or Agency; no MCP access during the free trial.
  • Static Bearer key only. No OAuth or one-click connection.
  • No media uploads through MCP; add media in the dashboard.
  • At most 5 unrevoked keys, with 30-day, 90-day or no expiry.
  • Publishing uses the same allowance and reservations as the app.

What is a social media MCP server?

MCP is the Model Context Protocol. PostVIA exposes tools that let an AI assistant work with your social posts through a scoped API key.

Which clients can I connect?

This guide covers Claude Code and Cursor with a custom Authorization: Bearer header. PostVIA uses static API keys, not OAuth. Clients that require OAuth cannot connect to this release.

How is MCP access controlled?

Choose read, draft or publish permissions and an expiry. A key is shown once; at most 5 unrevoked keys (an expired key keeps its place until revoked). Revoking a key stops it at once. Client comments are returned as untrusted data.

Can the AI publish a post by itself?

Only publish-level keys expose scheduling, publishing and unscheduling, and each action requires confirm: true. The assistant must ask for your agreement. The server checks the flag, but cannot verify that a human actually agreed.

What can MCP not do?

It cannot upload media: add media in the dashboard. There is no OAuth or one-click connection in this release.

Which plans include the MCP server?

Starter, Growth and Agency. A free trial and an account without a plan do not include MCP. Calls stop working when paid access ends.

Does MCP use my publication allowance?

Yes. The same plan limits, transactional reservations, validation and rate limits apply as in the web app. A readiness check does not spend or reserve publications.
