What are the character limits on social media?

Instagram and TikTok captions allow 2,200 characters, X allows 280 on a standard account, LinkedIn posts 3,000, Threads 500, Pinterest descriptions 500, YouTube descriptions 5,000 and Facebook posts 63,206.

Why does X count my post differently?

X uses weighted counting: every link counts as 23 characters, and emoji and many non-Latin characters count as 2. This counter applies the same rules.

Is my text stored?
